Do I need to quarantine my pet in Thailand?
Usually NO! If you have all required documents (rabies vaccination 21+ days before travel, health certificate within 10 days, import permit from DLD), your pet can be cleared the same day at the airport. Quarantine is only required if documents are incomplete or there are health concerns. Thailand is one of the easier countries for pet import!
Can I bring a Pit Bull to Thailand?
NO. Pit Bulls and related breeds are BANNED in Thailand. This includes: Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and American Bully. Mixed breeds with these characteristics may also be rejected. This is a strict rule with no exceptions. Consider rehoming or not traveling if you have these breeds.
How do I get a pet import permit for Thailand?
Apply online at https://aqi.dld.go.th/ (Department of Livestock Development). Steps: 1) Create account, 2) Fill application with pet details, 3) Upload vaccination records, 4) Pay fee (~200 THB), 5) Receive permit within 3-5 business days. Apply at least 15 days before travel. Permit is valid for 60 days. You'll need this permit at Thai customs.
