Turkey Entry Guide 2026

Complete guide to Turkish customs rules, duty-free allowances and the phone IMEI rule
Turkey (Türkiye) has generous allowances for cigarettes and alcohol — including purchases at the arrival duty-free — but bans the import of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco. Foreign phones work on Turkish SIMs for only 120 days before IMEI registration is required. Most visitors need an e-Visa or visa-free entry; customs is run by the Ministry of Trade.
⚠️ IQOS & Heated Tobacco Warning
Turkey has never licensed heated tobacco, and the Ministry of Trade bans importing IQOS, glo, HEETS and TEREA — including in luggage. There is no duty-free allowance. Customs at Istanbul and Antalya do confiscate devices and stick cartons. Some tourists get through with one personal device, but you cannot rely on it and sticks cannot be bought legally in Turkey.
