📝 Important Notes
- •Personal-use devices and new gifts need different customs treatment. The BOC passenger guidance reviewed does not specify a general two-phone cap or a guaranteed tax-free number. Explain the purpose of your devices and keep receipts for new purchases.
- •PHP 10,000 is the general de minimis threshold, not a universal cap on all personal travel effects. Conditional exemptions depend on traveller status and the nature of the goods. A new gift phone is not automatically exempt; removing its box does not change that. BOC determines the applicable duties and taxes.
- •Complete the eTravel customs declaration and truthfully disclose dutiable goods. If unsure, ask the officer before clearing customs. Returning residents, OFWs and balikbayan goods have separate eligibility conditions. Check airline battery rules separately.
❓ More Questions
Does unboxing a gift phone make it tax-free?
