- β’Hong Kong classifies heated tobacco (IQOS, glo, Ploom, lil) and their sticks as 'alternative smoking products' (ASPs) and has banned them in stages:
- β’Since 30 April 2022: import, manufacture, sale, promotion and possession for commercial purposes are offences. Bringing a device or HEETS/TEREA through the airport is 'import' β since the 2025 amendment, up to HK$500,000 and 2 years' imprisonment on summary conviction, or HK$2 million and 7 years on indictment
- β’Since 30 April 2026: possession of ASP substances (heat sticks, capsules, liquid) in public places is also an offence, and using or carrying an activated device in public is prohibited. Small quantities: fixed penalty HK$3,000. More than 100 heat sticks or 5 pods: up to HK$50,000 and 6 months' imprisonment
