- β’Hong Kong is a free port: there is no customs duty, VAT or GST on electronics. A brand-new MacBook in its box attracts exactly the same charge as a five-year-old one β nothing. This is why Hong Kong is a popular place to *buy* electronics.

- β’Quantities must look personal. Ten identical new iPhones suggest trade and can be questioned, but that is about licensing, not duty
- β’Power banks and spare lithium batteries: carry-on only, under 100 Wh (160 Wh with airline approval) β Hong Kong airlines enforce this strictly and Cathay bans using power banks in flight
- β’Drones: under the Small Unmanned Aircraft Order, drones over 250 g (Category A2) must be registered with the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) and the remote pilot must register too; an advanced rating is needed only for advanced operations; flying in Victoria Harbour, near HKIA and over crowds is prohibited. Fines up to HK$100,000
