- •MHRA lists herbs whose import in unlicensed medicines is prohibited, including Aristolochia and specified Mu Tong/Fangji sources. Kava-kava and Senecio also have specific import prohibitions. Keep a full ingredient list, preferably with botanical names; a doctor’s letter does not override a ban.
- •Protected animal or plant ingredients may need CITES documents. Raw herbs or roots can also face plant-health controls; Great Britain and Northern Ireland differ. Apply the controlled-drug travel rules only where those ingredients are present.
